MacKenzie Scott, a novelist and the ex wife of Jeff Bezos, the founder of Amazon, did not establish a foundation, she has donated billions of dollars in recent years from her estimated $50 billion personal fortune.
The Children’s Home Society of NC has received funding donation of $8 million to support the Children’s Home Society of North Carolina from philanthropist Scott, who utilizes her billions of dollars to assist hundreds of institutions, organizations, and causes nationwide.
The organization’s president and CEO, Brian Maness, didn’t immediately return a voicemail, but he stated in a press release that “Ms. Scott’s generosity comes at a critical time for our communities.”
“Children and families need more than ever to be seen, heard, and validated while facing the challenges of today’s world, they need to feel hope for their future and that someone cares about them, particularly amidst current social inequities and the pandemic. We are so grateful to everyone who is helping and sharing in this work.” Maness stated.
Maness mentioned that the donation would”help sustain this vital work as we continue to embrace our identity as a mission-driven problem solver, and promote the right of every child to a permanent, safe, and loving family” as the Children’s Home Society of North Carolina recently unveiled a 5-year plan for assisting kids and families.
